1. General Remarks
Drivers developed
especially for use in the Windows 10/8/7 operating system are
supplied with the hardware. The true 32-bit device driver offers full support
for all Microsoft Windows features, including Plug&Play
and ACPI.
The FRITZ!WLAN USB
Stick is a universal communications solution for WLAN networks. You should use
the FRITZ!WLAN USB Stick with a pentium-class PC or notebook (500 MHz or higher). A
free USB 2.0 or 3.0 slot must be available to connect the FRITZ!WLAN USB Stick.
The driver software for the
FRITZ!WLAN USB Stick AC 430 supports the
following WLAN standards:
- IEEE 802.11ac (433 Mbit/s
link rate)
- IEEE 802.11n
(150 Mbit/s link rate)
- IEEE 802.11a
(54 Mbit/s link rate)
- IEEE 802.11g
(54 Mbit/s link rate)
- IEEE 802.11b
(11 Mbit/s link rate)
- security in accordance with
IEEE 802.11i (WPA2), WPA, WEP (128/64)
The FRITZ!WLAN USB
Stick can be used both in combination with AVM FRITZ!Box
products and with any other WLAN devices that comply with the above standards.
Find out which WLAN standards are provided by your WLAN remote site (router,
other clients, etc.).
If you operate the FRITZ!WLAN USB Stick in combination with an AVM FRITZ!Box equipped with a USB host, you can use the AVM
Stick & Surf technology. This makes WLAN configuration especially
simple and secure.

The following components
are installed with the FRITZ!WLAN USB Stick:
- complete driver software for
WLAN operation
- "FRITZ!WLAN" WLAN
control software, developed by AVM
- system drivers for operation in
combination with the Microsoft WLAN Client (Windows 10/8/7: Automatic WLAN
Configuration
Note: During software updates the
transmission power of the FRITZ!WLAN USB Stick will be
reset to the original value of 100%.

This concludes the
connection of the FRITZ!WLAN USB Stick.
Installing the Driver Software
The driver software for the
FRITZ!WLAN USB Stick consists of the device
driver and the WLAN control software FRITZ!WLAN. Both components are installed
using the Windows "Add New Hardware Wizard".
Installation in Windows 10/8/7
- Windows detects the FRITZ!WLAN USB Stick automatically. This process may
take some time.
- Depending on the version of
your FRITZ!WLAN USB Stick, now you have two possiblities:
- The FRITZ!WLAN USB
Stick installs itself automatically.
- The FRITZ!WLAN USB

install the driver software.
- Depending on the driver
signature options set on your system, you may be asked repeatedly whether
you would like to cancel the installation because a driver is missing a

is installed automatically. If the FRITZ!WLAN
control software was not configured on your computer, proceed as instructed in Section 3 to install it later.
After FRITZ!WLAN USB Stick is connected to a WLAN remote site,
FRITZ!WLAN appears as a program icon in the notification area of the task bar.
If the WLAN connection is active, the program icon will be displayed in green.
If there is no active WLAN connection, the program icon is gray.
Double-click the control software icon FRITZ!WLAN in
the notification area of the Windows taskbar to open the console. The console
of the FRITZ!WLAN control software displays the

Establishing connections with FRITZ!WLAN is always
based on the same principle: search, find and connect.
The FRITZ!WLAN USB
Stick and the FRITZ!WLAN control software are loaded automatically every time
the system starts. Connections between the FRITZ!WLAN USB Stick and known
WLAN access points are established automatically as long as a successful
connection to this device has already been configured and the device is turned
on. For details about the FRITZ!WLAN control software,
see the manual accessible in the "Service / Manuals" area of the AVM
home page.
Note: To connect to a
wireless network use the Microsoft WLAN service.

5. Instructions for Optimum System Performance
For optimum system
performance we recommend activating the "DMA transfer mode" for IDE
devices like hard drives, CD-ROM and DVD drives.
If the chip set is not supported by Windows or cannot be activated after
restarting DMA transfer mode, the chip set drivers must be updated. Depending
on the chip set used, the following sources are available:
- the latest update and Service
Pack for your operation system
- install the chip set driver
from the support or driver CD included with the system (see also the
manual of the system or motherboard)
- load the chip set from the
Internet:
For more information on
this topic and about additional chipset drivers, see http://www.babylonsounds.com/faq/kap11.html (unfortunately, only available in
German).
The Microsoft WLAN Client
is available in the Windows 10, 8, 7 operating system.
For a maximum possible speed of 433 Mbit/s, the 802.11ac standard requires a
connection encrypted using WPA2.
Have fun working with FRITZ!WLAN USB Stick in your WLAN!
