With this setup the FRITZ!WLAN USB Stick AC 430 MU-MIMO can be installed in the 64-bit Edition of Windows 10/8/7. If you have already installed the FRITZ!WLAN USB Stick AC 430 MU-MIMO and only want to update the drivers, simply run the "SETUP.EXE" installation program. Then select the "Update" option.

Drivers developed especially for use in the Windows 11/10/8/7 x64 operating system are supplied with the device. The true 64-bit device driver offers full support for all Microsoft Windows features, including Plug & Play and ACPI.

The FRITZ!WLAN USB Stick AC 430 MU-MIMO is a universal communications solution for wireless networks. You should use the FRITZ!WLAN USB Stick with a computer or notebook with Windows 11/10, 8.1 or 7. A free USB 2.0 or 3.0 slot must be available to connect the FRITZ!WLAN USB Stick AC 430 MU-MIMO.

The driver software for the FRITZ!WLAN USB Stick AC 430 MU-MIMO supports the following wireless LAN standards:

  1. IEEE 802.11a (54 Mbit/s link rate)
  2. IEEE 802.11b (11 Mbit/s link rate)
  3. IEEE 802.11g (54 Mbit/s link rate)
  4. IEEE 802.11n (150 Mbit/s link rate)
  5. IEEE 802.11ac (433 Mbit/s link rate) including MU-MIMO (IEEE 802.11ac "Wave 2")
  6. security in accordance with IEEE 802.11i (WPA2), WPA, WEP (128/64)

The FRITZ!WLAN USB Stick AC 430 MU-MIMO can be used both in combination with AVM FRITZ!Box products and with any other wireless LAN devices that comply with the above standards. Find out which wireless LAN standards are provided by your wireless remote site (router, other clients, etc.).

If you operate the FRITZ!WLAN USB Stick AC 430 MU-MIMO in combination with an AVM FRITZ!Box equipped with a USB host, you can use the AVM Stick & Surf technology. This makes the configuration of your wireless LAN especially simple and secure.

The following components are installed with the FRITZ!WLAN USB Stick AC 430 MU-MIMO:

  1. complete driver software for wireless LAN operation
  2. "FRITZ!WLAN" wireless LAN software, developed by AVM
  3. system drivers for operation together with the automatic wireless configuration

Note: During software updates the transmitter power of the FRITZ!WLAN USB Stick AC 430 MU-MIMO will be reset to the original value of 100%.

2. Installing the FRITZ!WLAN USB Stick AC 430 MU-MIMO

The AVM FRITZ!WLAN USB Stick AC 430 MU-MIMO is installed on your computer by means of a comprehensive installation routine. The installation comprises two basic steps:

  1. Connecting the FRITZ!WLAN USB Stick AC 430 MU-MIMO
  2. Installing the new hardware component and installation of the driver software for the FRITZ!WLAN USB Stick AC 430 MU-MIMO

Proceed as follows to install the FRITZ!WLAN USB Stick AC 430 MU-MIMO:

  1. Install your AVM FRITZ!Box with wireless LAN support, your wireless access point, or another wireless client according to the supplied instructions.
  2. If you are using an AVM FRITZ!Box with a USB host port, insert the FRITZ!WLAN USB Stick AC 430 MU-MIMO into the relevant port on the FRITZ!Box after launching FRITZ!Box operation. As soon as the "Info" LED lights up, all of the parameters required to configure the wireless LAN are transmitted to the FRITZ!WLAN USB Stick AC 430 MU-MIMO (AVM Stick & Surf).
  3. Connect the FRITZ!WLAN USB Stick AC 430 MU-MIMO with any USB port.

This concludes the connection of the FRITZ!WLAN USB Stick AC 430 MU-MIMO.

Installing the Driver Software

The driver software for the FRITZ!WLAN USB Stick AC 430 MU-MIMO consists of the device driver and the wireless LAN control software FRITZ!WLAN. Both components are installed using the Windows "Add New Hardware Wizard".

Installation in Windows 11/10/8/7 x64

  1. Windows detects the FRITZ!WLAN USB Stick AC 430 MU-MIMO automatically. This process may take some time.
  2. In the "Autoplay" dialog, select the "Run AVM FRITZ!WLAN USB Stick AC 430 MU-MIMO installation" option.
  3. Then click "Yes" in the "User Account Control" dialog.
  4. In the "Found New Hardware" window, select the option "Locate and install driver software (recommended)".
    If the "Program Compatibility Wizard" reports that the program may not have been installed correctly, click "Program was installed correctly." or "Cancel".
  5. Then click "Yes" in the "User Account Control" dialog.
  6. In the "Found New Hardware" dialog, select the option "I don't have disk. Show me other options.".
  7. Then select "Browse my computer for driver software (advanced)" and enter the path to the folder with the driver software on your hard disk using the "Browse..." button.
    Attention: If you have downloaded a driver update file from the AVM Data Call Center, the archive extracts itself to the following location: "\PROGRAMS (x86)\AVM_UPDATE".
  8. Click "Next" to install the driver software.
  9. Conclude the installation by clicking "Close".

Once the installation has been concluded, you may establish a connection using the Microsoft Wireless LAN Client.
Select the Microsoft network icon and follow the instructions displayed on the screen.

The FRITZ!WLAN Software

Right after the driver software is installed, the FRITZ!WLAN software is installed automatically.
If the FRITZ!WLAN software was not configured on your computer, proceed as instructed in
Section 3 to install it later.

FRITZ!WLAN displays information on your wireless LAN connection and the properties of the FRITZ!WLAN USB Stick AC 430 MU-MIMO. FRITZ!WLAN offers additional settings options like the automatic regulation of transmitter power, for instance. After the software has connected to a wireless remote site, the green FRITZ!WLAN program icon is displayed the notification area of the task bar. If there is no active wireless LAN connection, the program icon is gray. Click the program icon of the FRITZ!WLAN software in the notification area of the Windows task bar to open the user interface. The user interface displays information on and settings of the FRITZ!WLAN USB Stick AC 430 MU-MIMO.

The FRITZ!WLAN USB Stick AC 430 MU-MIMO and the FRITZ!WLAN software are loaded automatically every time the system starts. Connections between the FRITZ!WLAN USB Stick AC 430 MU-MIMO and known wireless access points are established automatically as long as a successful connection to this device has already been configured and the device is turned on. For details about the FRITZ!WLAN software, see the manual or the "Service / Manuals" area of the AVM home page.

Note: The connection to a wireless remote site is established exclusively by the Microsoft wireless LAN control software.

3. Updating an Existing Driver Software Installation

Proceed as follows to update an existing installation of the FRITZ!WLAN USB Stick AC 430 MU-MIMO:

  1. Start the "SETUP.EXE" file from the driver update package. If you downloaded the update package from the AVM server (en.avm.de), this step is performed automatically when you extract the driver files to the "Programs (x86)\AVM_update" folder.
    In the next dialog, select the "Allow" button in the "User Account Control" dialog.
  2. The installation program starts with a welcome dialog. Click "Continue".
  3. From the next dialog, select the "Update" command and click "Continue".
  4. Depending on the driver signature options set on your system you may be asked repeatedly whether you would like to cancel the installation because a driver is missing a signature. Ignore these messages and select "Install the driver software anyway" or "Continue Anyway".
    Ignore the Program Compatibility Wizard if Windows displays it, and select "Program was installed correctly".
  5. Conclude the driver update by clicking the "Finish" button.
  6. Now the FRITZ!WLAN software starts automatically.
  7. Next, confirm the prompt to restart Windows or restart the computer manually.

4. Uninstalling the FRITZ!WLAN USB Stick AC 430 MU-MIMO

The FRITZ!WLAN USB Stick AC 430 MU-MIMO driver software and the FRITZ!WLAN software are removed at the same time.
Proceed as follows:

  1. If you have not done so already, download the FRITZ!WLAN USB Stick AC 430 MU-MIMO setup from the AVM Server en.avm.de/service/downloads and run the file "avm_fritz!wlan_usb_stick_build_XXXXXX".
    In the next dialog, select the "Allow" button in the "User Account Control" dialog.
  2. Click "Continue" in the next window.
  3. Select the "Removal" option.
  4. Click "Finish" to complete the process of uninstalling the software.
  5. Remove the FRITZ!WLAN USB Stick AC 430 MU-MIMO from the USB port on your computer.

This concludes uninstallation of the FRITZ!WLAN USB Stick AC 430 MU-MIMO.

For a maximum possible speed of 433 Mbit/s, the 802.11ac standard requires a connection encrypted using WPA2.
